CAPTAIN GAGE
Gage Heath was born and raised in Ketchikan, Alaska; and has been fishing since he could hold a pole. Gage's love of fishing started at age 9, when he and his family went out for Ketchikan's annual King Salmon Derby. Gage ended up winning the derby with a 42.7 pound king, becoming the youngest person ever to do so. Gage has been a licensed captain for 2 years now but still has years of experience fishing Ketchikan waters.
As a USCG License holder Gage also has a TWIC card and is up to date in all First aid and CPR
Gage's 42.7 pound winner from 2008
Do I need a fishing license?
You will need an Alaskan Fishing license, that you can purchase on the boat or online through the link here.
Keep in mind that if we are fishing for King Salmon, in order to catch or keep them you must have a king stamp which may also be purchased on the boat with cash.
What is provided in the charter?
The boat is fully equipped with all the fishing gear that will be needed, I keep the boat stocked on bottled water, any other drinks or food will not be provided.
Processing will be provided after the charter, which will include all vac seal bags and use of vac sealers.
What do I bring to wear while fishing?
The more layers the better, this way if it gets too warm you can shed layers as necessary.
Rain gear is a must when fishing in Ketchikan. If you have your own set of rain gear that's great, although we will have rubber rain gear provided aboard the boat.
Something else to think about would be any kind of polarized sun glasses, a hat or other accessories to keep the sun off of your face.
How many people will we be fishing with?
When a trip is booked with us, we require a 4 person minimum. This is due to overhead and USCG Regulations that limits us to 6 people per trip.
We never combine groups, so you will not be put on a boat with people you do not know.
What will we catch?
It is dependent on what kind of trip is booked. If its a 4 hour trip, we will be fishing for salmon. Other trips booked that are from 6 to 10 hours will have opportunity to catch Salmon, Halibut, and various species of cod.
Please see our "info" page for more about what we catch
